Color Scavenger Hunt Activity
Get some color-finding practice with a fun colors scavenger hunt. This free printable makes this activity easier than ever.
Why Do a Colors Scavenger Hunt Activity
Colors scavenger hunts are a fun activity that can be different each time your little one does them.
Littles practice identifying colors and finding matching colors while doing color scavenger hunts. This requires identifying and categorizing items by color; which are foundational math and science skills.
Preschoolers become more aware of their environment while looking for certain colors around them. As they are looking, they work on observation skills. If you are able to do the activity outside, little ones are able to make connections to nature, too.

While walking around looking for colors, little ones are working on gross motor skills. They may climb, jump, hop, or even run while looking for the colors in the colors scavenger hunt. After the color is found, littles may pick up the item using fine motor skills.
Plus, marking the color off on the printable colors scavenger hunt checklist lets littles work on controlling their writing and using fine motor skills.

A Twist on the Directions
Another way to try having a colors scavenger hunt is to have your little one collect the items that are the colors on the free printable.
Have your little one bring the items to a set location to make a collection of different-colored items.
If your little one likes racing, you can set a time limit to see how quickly they can find the items and bring them back to you. This way, they get some energy, practice identifying colors, and use a checklist.
