Geography Activities
Activity 1: Play Dough France
Print out an outline of France. Have your preschooler roll a play dough snake and have them place it around the border of France. Let them fill in France with more play dough.
After doing this, show on a globe where France is. Let little ones try to find it after you show them where it is.
If play dough isn’t your preschooler’s thing, have them tear up a sheet of construction paper and fill in the outline of France with the papers.
Activity 2: Famous Landmarks
France has so many beautiful places.
Show preschoolers famous landmarks from France. Try to include places like the Eiffel Tower, the Pont du Gard aqueduct, the stunning stained-glass art at Sainte-Chapple, and, of course, the Louvre Museum, which houses many great art pieces, including the Mona Lisa.
Culture Activities
Activity 1: Create the France Flag
Create a flag for France using pom poms. Check out our flag tutorial and adapt it to create a flag for France instead of the USA.
No Pom Poms? Try using strips of construction paper or tissue paper to make the flag.
Activity 2: Make Some Art!
Art is such an essential part of French culture we had to include it in the list of France preschool activities.
Gather some inspiration from French artists like Claude Monet and Georges Seurat. Have little ones create tissue paper flowers inspired by Claude Monet’s work.
Try printing out coloring sheets and dabbing markers on them using the pointillism technique that Georges Seurat used.
Math Activities
Activity 1: Learn To Count in French
Why limit preschoolers’ counting abilities to only English? Let them learn how to count to 10 in French, too!
This list of France preschool activities includes some other opportunities for your little one to learn a bit more French.
Activity 2: Build and Count
Print out a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Have your preschooler use blocks to create the Eiffel Tower. As your little one places a block on their tower, have them count the block. See how many blocks they used to make their version of the Eiffel Tower.
Language Arts Activities
Activity 1: Read a Favorite Picture Book — in French!
With French being a well-known language, many picture books have been translated into French. Search YouTube for some of your preschooler’s favorite books to see if they have been translated.
Activity 2: Learn Common Phrases
Learn the names of everyday things or phrases (like hello, please, goodbye, etc.) in French. Encourage your preschooler to continue using these phrases while doing all of these fun French preschool activities.
Music Activities
Activity 1: Learch French Nursery Rhymes
Nursery rhymes are catchy and repetitive. Both things preschoolers adore. They make the perfect introduction to a new language.
Find a translation of the nursery rhyme to help little ones to understand what they are saying.
Activity 2: Listen to Songs in French
The kid’s musician Raffi has some songs he sings in French. Try turning on some of these songs and enjoy dancing or building to these catchy songs.
You can even play these French songs to play in the background while doing other France preschool activities.
Cooking Activities
Activity 1: Make Crepes
In some houses, crepes may already be a staple. That’s okay! If this is the case, it will be an excellent connection for your little ones.
Find a crepe recipe that fits your needs and enjoy this yummy addition to the France preschool activities list!
Activity 2: Bake Baguettes
Hold on a second before saying a resounding “yeah, right” to this idea.
Breadmaking has a bad reputation. However, it isn’t all hard and time-consuming. The trick is finding the recipe that fits your needs.
There are baguette recipes that only call for four ingredients (all-purpose flour, salt, water, and yeast) and are no knead!
Rise time will be needed because it is a yeasted bread, so be prepared and read the recipe you decide on all the way through before committing to it (and then not having the baguette done by dinner).
