Oooey and gooey without a fire, these indoor s’mores are a family favorite. Preschoolers love making them (and taste-testing them).
Why Make Indoor S’mores
S’mores are a classic camping treat. But what about rainy Tuesday afternoons? Who says s’mores can’t be made indoors?
So wait no more— indoor s’more to the rescue!
They are quick and easy to make. If you use parchment paper or foil, your cleanup will be a cinch, too.
There are many great science lessons that can be snuck into this fun indoor s’mores activity. To start, the chocolate and marshmallows cannot be unmelted. See if your preschooler has an idea for how to prevent them from being gooey.
Maybe try putting one s’more in the fridge after it is baked. This is a great way to show that some things can’t be undone.

Indoor s’mores are perfect for little hands to help with (until they go in the oven).
From splitting the graham crackers in half to placing the marshmallows on the chocolate, there are many things preschoolers can help with.
Plus, you can make eight or more indoor s’mores in under 2 minutes.
That’s much quicker than using a microwave or cooking over a campfire.

How to Make Indoor S’mores
1. Preheat the oven to BROIL LOW and line your pan with parchment paper or foil. Be sure it is PARCHMENT paper (not wax paper)!!! The wax paper will burn in the oven, which you don’t want.
2. Have your little helper split the graham crackers in half. You will need one whole graham cracker per s’more you make. So, if you are making eight s’mores, you will need eight whole graham crackers.
3. Place the graham crackers in the parchment-paper-lined pan. We were able to fit eight in our pan.
4. Split the chocolate bars into quarters. For each s’more, we used a line of three little bricks.
5. Add one of the split pieces of chocolate to each graham cracker. The chocolate will melt in the oven, so be aware that if it is too large, it will make it a bit messier.
6. Put a marshmallow on each graham cracker/chocolate stack.
Hopefully, your preschooler will notice that if they put it on one way, it will roll, but if they put the flat side down, it won’t. What a great science lesson to sneak in!
7. In a preheated oven, carefully put your pan in the oven.
8. WATCH IT CAREFULLY. It only takes a minute or so to get the marshmallows toasted, and the chocolate melted.
**The closer your rack is to the heating element, the quicker it will roast**
