Bubble Art for Kids
This twist on blowing bubbles turns a piece of cardstock into beautiful bubble art for kids. Little ones will also learn about color mixing.
Why Make Bubble Art for Kids
Bubbles are a fun, interactive activity that gets little ones excited and moving around. More often than not, blowing bubbles turns into Mom blowing bubbles for 15 minutes, and the second she tries to take a break, a meltdown ensues.
Let’s flip the script and get those little ones working on blowing bubbles!
Colorful bubble art for kids is an incredible way to work on blowing through a straw and learn cause and effect. Preschoolers will see that when they continue to blow bubbles, the bubbles will continue to grow.
Capturing these colorful bubbles on paper is part of the fun. Encourage your little one to try overlapping colors on the paper to see the colors mix. This may happen naturally if your cups are close enough together!
P.S. Did you know that blow bubbles is a great way to help littles go potty? The pelvic floor relaxes while they blow bubbles, making it easier for things to get moving.

How to Make Bubble Art for Kids
1. Create a space where it is okay to get wet and soapy. For some, this may look like the kitchen table or grabbing a deep-sided pan. If the weather permits, you can do this activity outside on the sidewalk.
2. Grab sturdy short cups and fill them with about a tablespoon of dish soap. We used Dawn, and it worked great to make bubble art for kids.
3. Add about three tablespoons of water to each cup. This is where the short cups are important. If the cups are too big, you’ll be tempted to add more water, making the bubbles not as bubbly.
4. Drop about ten drops of colored food into the cup. Repeat for each color.
5. Put one straw in each cup and give it a quick stir.
6. Start blowing bubbles using the straw. Remind your little one to blow OUT. Have them practice blowing on their hand before blowing into the straw. If they drink in the straw, they will be in for an unpleasant surprise. 😂
7. Once the bubbles are above the top of the cup, place the cardstock on top of the bubbles.
8. It’s up to your little one if they want to try blowing more bubbles while the paper is on the bubbles.
9. Repeat with the other colors to make colorful bubble art for kids.
If you are trying this outside, continue to blow the bubbles until they overflow from the cup and land on the sidewalk.

This fun bubble art for kids activity can be done inside on a rainy day or outside while the sun shines. Either way, be prepared for the bubble explosion that may happen when littles need to see what happens when they keep blowing bubbles. 😉
