Letter W Craft: Worm Activity
Dig into a good time with this letter W craft. Learn about the critical role of worms and do this fun worm craft.
Why Teach about Worms
Worms have an important role in our ecosystem. They take food from nature (food scraps, rotten food, dead plants and animals) and turn it into nutrient rich soil.
All the nutrients from the food they eat are returned back to the soil to be used again. AMAZING!
They also make tunnels in the soil providing aeration so water can more easily flow to the roots of plants.
Without decomposers (the job worms play in our ecosystem), we would have mounds of dead things laying around. YUCK!
Plus, they are fun to learn about for preschoolers 😉
When to Teach about Worms
Try teaching about worms in spring when people are planting their gardens. Without worms, their wouldn’t be nutrients in the soil to help the plants grow!
Take a walk outside after it rains and see all of the worms that are out soaking up the moisture into their skin.

Items Needed for Worm Craft
*Letter W Craft printable
*scissors
*blank sheet of paper
*crayons or markers
*glue
How to Make a Letter W Craft
1. Print out the letter W craft printable.
2. Color in the items on the printable and trace the word ‘worm’ at the bottom of the page.
3. Using scissors, cut out all of the items and trim off the excess paper around the word ‘worm.’
4. Grab the blank sheet of paper and place it so the long sides are going up and down.
5. Have your preschooler find the word ‘worm’ and glue it to the very bottom of the page.
6. Glue the letter W in the middle of the blank sheet of paper.
7. Find the circle with the smile on it. Attach it to one of the ends of the W.
8. Glue on both eyes to the inside of the circle, above the smile to complete the letter W craft.
